My daughter and I did a half day inshore fishing trip with Jockseban and Allen and had a blast. We speak very little Spanish but Jockseban’s English is excellent, so he was able not only to teach us about fishing, but shared his knowledge about the area and local wildlife as well. Caught some barracuda on poppers which was great fun and some mackerel. Jockseban created a plate of mackerel sashimi that was as delicious as it was beautifully presented. Tacho and Alejandro were incredibly hospitable. Their boat ride was one of our favorite experience in Costa Rica! We started the day with snorkeling before heading to lunch at Tortuga Island. After that, we were able to watch a group of humpback whales, which was such an unexpected and incredible experience! We finished the day with more snorkeling and a night dip to see the bioluminescence. The guides have an unparalleled knowledge of the area and were happy to share the sights and culture. We had an unforgettable experience with Pochote Ocean Adventures and Tacho in Montezuma. Within the first hour of our 8-hour trip, we witnessed an incredible humpback whale encounter - including a mom and baby - that felt straight out of a National Geographic documentary. Tacho was an excellent captain and put us on fish all day; we caught jack, triggerfish, mahi mahi, and yellowfin tuna. One of the highlights was Tacho preparing fresh tuna sashimi right on the boat with avocado and chips - absolutely amazing. We also cruised by islands with spider monkeys and stopped at a floating restaurant for lunch. Between the great fishing, fresh fruit, cold drinks, and relaxed atmosphere, the days flew by. We had a fantastic time! Tyler and Alejandro were very hospitable, knowledgeable and attentive and took every effort to make our family fishing excursion one to remember. We caught several yellow tuna, and my daughter had the catch of a lifetime—a sailfish! They took extra care to secure a successful catch & release. What a thrill.
